Is ReFocusing Leaders Right For Your Church?

There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to processes that guide churches toward greater health. reFocusing Leaders works well with churches that have a strong sense of their purpose and a plan to move toward their vision. In other words, it works well in situations where there is relative health in the congregation. On the contrary, if the church is in conflict, has no sense of vision, and has no urgency for change reFocusing Leaders is not likely to be a good choice for a transformation process. In those situations a Transformational Coach, working one-on-one with the pastor, is a more suitable option.

Other considerations:

  • The senior pastor must be ‘on-board’ with the process and an active participant in the network.
  • The pastor must be open to a coaching relationship with the reFocusing Facilitator.
  • The Leadership of the church must approve the participation of the church and commit to being part of the reFocusing process.
  • The relationship between the pastor and the church must be stable enough for the pastor to be reappointed for 2-3 years.
  • The church must recognize that, like any truly transformational process, reFocusing Leaders is a process that takes 2-3 years to complete. It takes time to get healthier!
